Speed assessment and possible signage improvement is still ongoing in the village and we are awaiting further investigation, we will keep you posted with any developments.
We have been approached by the Food and Environment Research Agency (FERA) who have asked the Parish Council to encourage bee keepers to register with BeeBase to help sustain a healthy honey bee population. If you are a bee keeper, or know someone who is, you can find further information at www.nationalbeeunit.com or by calling 01904 462510.
Harrogate Borough Council Projects
HBC would like to draw your attention to two environmental projects; firstly the car sharing scheme and secondly a community carbon reduction project recruiting volunteers; further information can be found on the notice board.
Parking on verges
Could we please ask people to take care not to park on grass verges which is causing damage and making the village look untidy.
Burton Leonard Parish Plan
A Parish Plan is prepared by local people and brings together the views, needs and aspirations of the whole community covering a wide range of social, economic and environmental issues. It usually takes the form of an “action plan” which highlights issues raised during consultation with local residents, and sets out how they might be addressed.
We need your help to enable this to happen, if anyone is interested in forming a small committee to put together a parish plan for Burton Leonard and for further information please contact the clerk.
We are continuing to improve our website and the information that is available on it. Please contact the clerk if you have any information or photos that you would like to be posted on it. We keep it up to date regularly and we hope that villagers are finding it useful; www.burtonleonard.org.uk, any feedback would be gratefully received.
The next meeting will be held in St Leonard’s Hall on Monday 1st February 2010 at 7:30pm. Members of the public are very welcome to attend the meeting and we invite people to raise their views and concerns at the beginning of the meeting or in writing to the clerk.
