Parish Council Notes – March 2010

These notes are highlights from the minutes of the Parish Council Meeting on 1st February  2010 and will be published in the Parish Magazine in March 2010.

Planning Applications
i)                    6.68.152.A.FUL Conversion of loft, installation of 5 roof lights to rear and balcony to front elevation at The Birches, Scarah Lane.  The Parish Council have considered this application and responded with no objections.

ii)                  HBC have refused planning permission at 2 Burnett Close for a side conservatory.  This decision was made on 25 January 2010.

iii)                HBC have sent a letter confirming observations about the removal of the BT Payphone kiosk.  The council objects to the loss of the kiosk on the following grounds; heritage within the conservation area, significant local value, amenity & safety grounds, losing facility would be detrimental to the village.  If however, it were to be removed the Parish Council would like to adopt the kiosk.

The following applications have been received and will be discussed at the next meeting on 1st March, the plans will be available for public inspection. 

iv)                6.68.158.C.FUL Formation of a new vehicular access at 4 Sunnyside Gardens, Burton Leonard.

v)                  6.68.94.A.FUL Erection of replacement upper section of rear conservatory at Barn Cottage, Station Lane, Burton Leonard.

vi)                6.68.172.FUL Erection of a two storey rear extension at Laurel House, Station Lane, Burton Leonard.

vii)              6.68.5.D.FUL Installation of 10 replacement windows at The Royal Oak, Copgrove Road, Burton Leonard. 

North Yorkshire Highways (rural safety schemes)
We are still awaiting the results of the speed assessment which recently took place in the village.  The rural safety schemes are ongoing and will be discussed in the next meeting.

Next meeting
The next meeting will be held in St Leonard’s Hall on Monday 1st March 2010 at 7:30pm.  Members of the public are very welcome to attend the meeting and we invite people to raise their views and concerns at the beginning of the meeting or in writing to the clerk.
