Chairman’s Report of the last 12 months.
There are a number of achievements which have been made in the last 12 months as well as many ongoing items which are regularly on the agenda.
Village Greens We would like to thank Cllr Paul Bappoo for his hard work getting the curbing project underway on the High Green and also finishing it off by putting top soil and seeding down.
We have ongoing issues regarding the greens which are regularly on the agenda, there is a limit to what can be done as there are constraints and legalities on village greens and these issues take time to resolve.
Village drains and low green flooding This is very much an ongoing issue which now has a committee of people who are looking into the various drainage issues and possible reasons for flooding on the low green. We are very grateful for their continued hard work and knowledge in this area and would like to thank Nick Sambidge and everyone involved.
Dog Wardens Dog wardens are patrolling the village undercover, who will issue fines and in some cases prosecution. Extra stickers will be placed in the village to prevent dog fouling on footpaths and village greens.
Standards & Procedures We would like to thank the Clerk for keeping us up to date with standards, procedures and general best practice. Many of our documents are available to view on our website.
Planning The Parish Council act as a local resident’s complaints procedure for planning applications, we forward objections, comments and enforcement queries to Harrogate Borough Council on behalf of residents.
LDF The process is ongoing with nominated sites; the change of government may affect this process. We are currently in no position to say what will happen in the imminent future but we will keep people informed through the notice board, magazine and website.
6.68.157.B.FUL Erection of a single storey side extension at 2 Burnett Close, this application was discussed; cllrs agreed to respond with; C neither objecting to nor supporting the application but raising the issue of the close proximity of the extension to the Grade II listed building and distance to the boundary.
