Parish Council Notes – January 2011

These notes are highlights from the minutes of the Parish Council Meeting on 6th December 2010 and will be published in the Parish Magazine in January 2011. 

Heavy Snow
Please get in touch if you would be willing to volunteer to help elderly people in heavy snow conditions, if there are enough people we may be able to set up a voluntary snow help team!  Gritting information can be found at, we are expecting that the salt bins will all be replenished.  We are also hoping to get a new salt bin for use on Mill Lane. 

a)      6.68.157.C.FUL Erection of single storey extension to southern gable at 2 Burnett Close; planning permission granted on 1st November 2010 subject to conditions.

b)      6.68.51.E.FUL Formation of agricultural access track at Flatts House, Scarah Lane; an appeal against the council’s refusal of planning permission has been made.

High green grass cutting & Burton Leonard School
Ongoing discussions are taking place and the issues are being progressed with the school legal department. 

Harrogate Rural Safety Scheme – Mill lane parking bay project
Works on Mill Lane are still on hold, no new start date has been given.  We will advise of further information when received.

Street Lights
Some street lights have been reported to Highways for maintenance; however, if you are aware of any more street lights which are not working, please notify the Clerk, giving the location and lamp number. 

Planning Enforcement
Investigating enforcement action for unauthorised dwelling development on the Sports Field, concerns for resident’s safety in this milder weather has been raised.  Neighbours have been complaining of noise from the owner’s penguins!!  Happy New Year to everyone!!

The next meeting will be held in St Leonard’s Hall on Monday 10th January 2010 at 7:30pm, members of the public are invited to raise their concerns and observe the business of the meeting.
