Vacancy on Burton Leonard Parish Council

Would you like to be a Parish Councillor and help to make the parish of Burton Leonard a better place to live?

There is currently a vacancy on Burton Leonard Council.

The Council can fill the vacancy by co-option, which is a process whereby the council considers written applications from interested persons and can then select somone to fill the seat.

(If the vacancy occurs within six months before the day on which the councillor whose office is vacant would regularly have retired, an election shall NOT be held and the vacancy may be filled either by co-option by the Parish, or at the next ordinary election of councillors on 3rd May 2012.)

If you are interested in becoming a parish councillor, please write to the parish council and include a few details of why you would like to become a councillor.

If you need any information about qualification for being a councillor or just want more information about the role, please contact Becky Coates, Clerk to the Council via email at or phone 677963.

Deadline for written applications: Prior to the next meeting at7.30pm in St Leonard’s Hall on Monday 5th December 2011.

In the meantime, we would like to thank Mark Snowdon for his hard work and wealth of knowlege that he has brought to the council over the past 4 years.  He was a great asset to the council and we thank him for his time and support.
