These notes are highlights from the minutes of the Parish Council Meeting on 1st October together with information since the meeting and will be published in the Parish Magazine in November 2012.
There are now about 22 Hebridean Sheep on site to graze the grasslands. They have been brought earlier this year to have more of an impact on the grasslands on site and also help control the spread of burnet rose. Gates have been padlocked again whilst the sheep are on site. The Wildlife Trust have also done a good job cutting back the footpath leading to the reserve.
We have been advised that the current recommended allocation for development in Burton Leonard is the field next to Flatts House, Scarah Lane, subject to council approval. The proposal is for 40 houses, 40% of which will be affordable housing split between rented and shared ownership. There will be a public consultation starting in November to January. The Parish Council will endeavour to keep you informed with information as and when they receive it.
We have received a letter from the Manager at Mountgarret Estates and he has said that he will ask keepers to keep a distance from fields with domestic boundaries.
Low Green Foul Sewer
Please be aware that there is still foul sewer flooding issues on the low green and we strongly advise that children avoid playing near the flooded area. Yorkshire Water are aware of this urgent and serious problem and they are currently undergoing investigation and maintenance. A progress report will be given at the next meeting.
High Green Yew Trees
The maintenance trimming on the high green trees is now complete.
We will shortly be receiving some more bulbs for the green this year. It would be fantastic to have some help with planting them, if you would like to volunteer please contact the clerk.
