These notes are highlights from the minutes of the Parish Council Meeting on 1st July together with information since the meeting and will be published in the Parish Magazine in August 2013.
Development – Flats House
On behalf of the village the Chairman would like to thank Mark Snowdon and all the Councillors & Clerk for their effort and time given up for the various meetings and drop in sessions for the development proposals at Flats House. Also for their support in helping villagers fill in their forms. We now await the outcome.
Low Green Drainage Project
Thanks once again to everyone who supported the petition we had 82 signatures in total. Also the website poll showed support of 67 votes (1 against); we will find out if the grant application of approx. £6000 was successful later this month.
Free Community Trees
The Woodland Trust is offering 4000 free tree packs to communities this autumn. Applications must be submitted before 13 September 2013 for the chance to receive a free tree pack to plant by village volunteers in November 2013. Please share your thoughts and vote in our poll above.
Wheely bins seem to be being left out unnecessarily and for long periods of time, please could everyone try to leave them out on the pavement for a shorter time possible?
As we head towards the harvesting season, please be advised that lamping activity will start after fields are harvested. When possible please keep your pets indoors in the evenings to avoid any disappearances.
Thank you to the farmer and Mountgarret Estates for replacing some of the unsightly barbed wire with very smart gates/fences – the vista and safety is very much improved.
Although flooding is obviously not a current problem, we are pleased to let you know that Highways have scheduled some drainage works from the capital programme with a good pot of expenditure for the flooding area along Station Lane outside of the village near ‘gravel pits’. Work is due to commence approximately March 2014.
Low Green Trees
The Purple Leaf Plum tree will soon be removed due to disease and deadwood within it. We do not take the decision to remove trees lightly and it is always after sound professional advice and conservation notice consent. We are hoping to replace it with a couple of new trees in the near future.
Please keep all dogs on a lead within the village to stop dogs wandering onto driveways and leaving a mess, please be responsible for your dog and considerate to others.
The next meeting of the Parish Council will be held in St Leonard’s Hall on Monday 2nd September at 7:30pm, members of the public are invited to raise their concerns and observe the business of the meeting.
