BURTON LEONARD PARISH COUNCIL
OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE YOUR COMMENTS TO THE PARISH COUNCIL
Planning Application ref: 19/01971/FUL Hare and Hounds, Mill Lane, Burton Leonard, HG3 3SG, Demolition of former public house and erection of 5 no. dwellings including the creation of new access, associated parking and landscaping.
Whilst a public consultation within the village has been undertaken by the developer, there remains, of course, considerable public interest in these proposals.
Burton Leonard Parish Council (BLPC) has therefore requested a deadline extension to Monday 8 July 2019 for BLPC’s input to Harrogate Borough Council (HBC) on this planning application. This has been granted by HBC.
Our next Parish Council meeting will be held on Monday 1st July 2019 at 7.30pm at St Leonard’s Hall, Burton Leonard. BLPC will raise consideration of this planning application to be the 1st Agenda item at the meeting – the objective being to allow villagers an opportunity to make comments on the plans that can then be used in finalising BLPC’s input to HBC.
BLPC will allocate a maximum of 30 minutes to allow villagers to make any points they wish to and allow Mr Rob Gilpin a final opportunity to clarify/respond to any points raised.
Everyone is, in addition of course, entitled to make their personal views known directly to HBC via it’s consultation process.
UCI Bike Race passing through the village in September.
BLPC would like to celebrate the UCI Bike Race passing through the village in September. Harrogate Borough Council (HBC) have created a fund to award small grants up to £3,000 to projects across the district which will celebrate the UCI race. Apparently there is £40,000 available in this grant funding pot. BLPC has taken the opportunity to submit a bid to HBC for a Small Grant. The bid is made up of three phases:-
Phase 1 – Community benefit – to build a new path with full wheelchair and pram user access from the road to the bench sited on the top green.
Phase 2 – Event commemoration – to purchase and install some form of Cycle Art, a statue or sculpture, which will be mounted in a prominent position, for example – on the top green of the village.
Phase 3 – Legacy – to create a Cycle Art Route so that cyclists can take in Burton Leonard’s new addition and other eyecatching pieces of art and displays. There are a number of pieces of cycle-based art already locally in Harrogate, Ripley, Ripon and Knaresborough and the tour could be expanded to include any new cycle art.
BLPC will raise this issue to be the 2nd agenda item at the 1st July BLPC meeting, the objective being to allow villagers an opportunity to make comments on the bid that can then be used to shape the project should BLPC’s bid prove to be successful.
