I can happily say that during my 18 months as Parish Clerk, Councillors have been very obliging and helpful to me. If you would like any information about becoming a Parish Councillor, please get in touch with any of the present councillors.

Parish Council Notes – January 2015

Councillors of Burton Leonard Parish Council would like to send everyone their good wishes for Christmas and a happy and prosperous 2015.

Library services consultation NYCC have begun a three month consultation from 3rd November 2014 to 8th February 2015 on our Library Services, see how changes can be made to save money. To have your say go on line www.northyorks.gov.uk/libraryconsultation your views and comments are needed.

Spillage of foul water on Low Green, Burton Leonard. As I am sure most people in the village will have seen this dreadful situation happen over the last weeks. Fortunately all the repairs are in hand and further work will be carried out to check the drainage system is adequately for the village use. However there is evidence of wet wipes, plastic bottles which have helped to clog up the system and cause the spillage. Please, please refrain from putting such items down toilets, also fat put into the drains will also cause further problems with the drains.

Planning

NYCC Highways – Road repairs, surface dressing and road markings will take place after at least 7 days from 20 October 2014 at Red Hills Lane, Moor Lane, Knaresborough Road from Burton Leonard to A61 Ripon by Pass will be closed for 10 days patching and 5 days surface dressing and road marking. Also Oucher Lane from Toll House to C377 Red Hills Lane will be closed for 2 days patching, 2 days surface dressing and road markings. Traffic will be prohibited from using these roads.

Dog fouling
Plastic bags with dog mess are continually being left in hedgerows and there is often dog fouling on the pavements. The main reason for dog fouling laws is because dog faeces is unhygienic and a health hazard. Dog fouling is unsightly, unpleasant and can lead to toxocariasis which can cause serious injury and even blindness. Please ensure that you clean up after your dog and put the waste in the bins provided. Incidents can be reported to the Dog Warden on 01423 556633. You do not have to give your name to the Dog Warden when reporting any one not clearing up their dog mess. Printed signs have been received to put around the village.

Next meeting
The next meeting will be held in St Leonard’s Hall on Monday 3 January 2015 at 7:30pm, members of the public are invited to raise their concerns and observe the business of the meeting.
