Burton Leonard Playground Appeal

An impression of what the new playground could look like

This is a 3D representation of the playground as currently envisaged, although there may be further refinements/changes depending on funding received etc.  The benches in the picture are only in for show – we will source some cheaper benches nearer the time.  We are also hoping, again depending on funding and local goodwill, to put in some trees, perhaps blossom trees of some variety, and do some bulb planting to make it generally a much prettier and less sterile area.  All views/bulb donations welcome!

The fundraising ceilidh in the village hall was a fantastic success, raising nearly £1500.  Thank you to Carla Darbyshire for all the marvellous work organising the event.  It was a brilliant night – the hall looked fantastic thanks to Pete Darbyshire and many thanks to all those who assisted both in the set up and clean up.  This takes our grant total to £10,849.50 including a generous recent donation from Bettys and Taylors of Harrogate.

Many thanks also to Mark Roberts, Paul Wigby, Magnus Bordewich, Steven Withy, Torben Dunn and Gordon Ibbotson and who worked very hard on the hottest day of the year to remove the hedge in the middle of the playground.  A new hedge will be planted along the new boundary on completion of the project.  This now gives a much better view of the size of the new playground.  An artist’s impression of the playground will soon be posted here to view as soon as it has been received from the designers.

Fundraising plans continue, with a quiz night scheduled for December 3rd, please contact Chris Leaver for tickets.  Please keep up your welcome support!
