Burton Leonard village is in the area of Harrogate District Counci but it is in the Skipton parliamentary consituency and has a Ripon (01765) telephone number. It is surrounded by productive farmland and has a number of farms within its boundaries. There is also a variety of business enterprises which are based in the village.
What’s What in Burton Leonard
There is a booklet called ‘What’s What in Burton Leonard’ which lists the many organisations in the village together with contact details. It also lists all the named houses and has a map showing their location in the village. Both this booklet and the monthly magazine can be obtained from the village shop.

Shop and Post Office
The shop opens from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 1pm on Saturday and is closed on Sunday. The store sells most things including newspapers and greeting cards, groceries, dairy products and cooked meats. It is also an off-licence for wines and spirits. Dave and Amanda – 677259.

Doctors & Dentists
There are no surgeries in the village. There are practices in Boroughbridge, Harrogate, Knaresborough and Ripon. Only a few of the dentists accept NHS patients.
Service Nos 56 & 56A two-hourly from opposite the Post Office to Ripon, Harrogate and Knaresborough. Parking is available at The George at Wormald Green for users of the express No36 bus to Leeds or Ripon.
Harrogate Council collects household waste (grey weeks) and recycling (green weeks) on alternate Fridays (Saturday following a bank holiday) and it is collected early so bins should be on the kerb by 7am.
The recycling week includes the collection of glass bottles & cans & plastic (in a black box), newsprint/magazines/paper/thin cardboard (in a blue bag) and garden waste (in black wheelie bin) – 01423 556852.
North Yorkshire County Council operates a recycling and waste disposal site at Dallamires Lane, Ripon (it is not open on Wednesdays).
You can reclycle your glass bottles in the bottle banks outside St Leonard’s Hall which helps raise money for church funds.
